oco, seguido do provete maciço e do bi-material.
amortecimento. Throughout this dissertation, the study of cellular structures was carried out using static and dynamic experimental tests. The main focus of the work was the validation of this type of structures and their evaluation from the perspective of improving their mechanical properties. The hybrid cell structures under study consisted of bi-material rectangular beams made up of polylactic acid and elastomer. The performance of these structures was then analyzed in comparison with that evidenced by solid and hollow polylactic acid specimens with equivalent general dimensions. The manufacturing process used to obtain all the specimens was additive manufacturing. Regarding the static experimental tests carried out, the aim of the tensile test of solid specimens was to validate the material properties, while the stiffness of each one of the three different geometries was obtained through the bending tests. It should be noted that the configuration of this second type of test consisted of a cantilevered beam. Concerning the dynamic tests, the described configuration was maintained, but instead of a load gradually applied to the free end of the beam, the solicitation consisted only of an impact in order to register the free response of the beam. The tensile tests revealed the need to develop specific standards to validate the properties of materials obtained by additive manufacturing, since this type of structures reveals an anisotropic behavior. The bending tests showed a higher stiffness value for the hollow specimen, followed by the solid specimen and the bi-material one. On the other hand, the dynamic tests revealed greater damping of the solid specimen, followed by the hollow and bi-material specimens, both with similar performances. In general, the numerical models developed always revealed a satisfactory replication of the values obtained through the experimental tests. Finally, reflecting on the performance revealed by the hybrid cell structure under study, it did not prove to be an advantageous choice compared to the other specimens, since it was the one that presented the lowest stiffness and damping values. |
