Aprendizagem baseada na resolução de problemas: experiência com alunos do ensino profissional na integração de PHP e SQL

Abstract

Este relatório documenta um estudo em ambiente de investigação-ação critica realizado numa turma do 3º ano do curso profissional de Técnico de Gestão de Equipamentos informáticos. Atendendo a que os alunos estariam a concluir a escolaridade obrigatória e grande parte prestes a entrar no mercado de trabalho, as estratégias e objetivos definidos foram delineados de modo a ir ao encontro das exigências dos empregadores da área de estudo do curso em questão e gerar um contacto cada vez mais próximo com a sua futura área de atuação, tendo sido adotadas novas estratégias e metodologias de ensino que potenciassem algumas competências essenciais previstas no Perfil dos Alunos à Saída da Escolaridade Obrigatória (PASEO). Com base na observação da turma onde a intervenção foi feita, verificou-se que as metodologias de trabalho assentavam sobretudo em trabalho individual. Considerou-se importante implementar uma metodologia que envolvesse trabalho de grupo, pois este potencia mais fortemente o desenvolvimento de algumas das competências desejáveis, tais como a colaboração, comunicação, relacionamento interpessoal e espírito crítico. A metodologia Aprendizagem Baseada ria Resolução de Problemas (ABRP) pareceu ser a mais adequada ao contexto em questão. Neste relatório são descritas as principais estratégias e atividades desenvolvidas ao longo da intervenção, durante a qual foi trabalhada a integração de PHP e SQL. Foi planeado um processo de transição suave para a nova metodologia, mantendo, numa fase inicial, parte das estratégias adotadas pelo professor titular. Paralelamente à implementação da metodologia ABRP, aspetos como apoio individualizado em sala de aula, em particular a alunos com necessidades específicas, e algumas questões associadas à formação dos grupos de trabalho, foram alvo de reflexão e investigação. Durante e após a intervenção foram recolhidos dados de natureza quantitativa e qualitativa, a partir de diferentes fontes, que permitiram confirmar que o trabalho de grupo e, em particular, o recurso à metodologia ABRP constitui uma estratégia adequada para o desenvolvimento de algumas das principais áreas de competências previstas no PASEO. A reflexão efetuada e identificação de alguns constrangimentos e limitações levam a acreditar que, em situações futuras, será possível aperfeiçoar alguns aspetos e registar ainda melhor desempenho por parte dos alunos,

This report's main goal is to document the most important aspects associated to a critical pedagogy research study clone on a 3rd year class of a professional high school course of Computer Systems Management Technician. Considering that the students were finishing their mandatory education and the majority looking to start a career, the strategies and defined goals were chosen with the purpose of meeting the requirements of the employers in this field and create a closer connection to their future jobs. For this purpose, new strategies and methods of teaching were used, which boosted some essential competences found in the "students' profile at the end of the mandatory schooling" PAS E0). Based on the observations done on the studied class, it was perceived that the working methods already used, were mostly based on individual work. Therefore, finding a strategy that would require group work was the main goal since it would boost the development of some desirable skills such as: collaboration, communication, interpersonal relationship and critical thinking. Based on those assumptions Problem-based learning method IPB14 was the one that seemed the most suitable in this context. This report contains a description of the leading strategies and activities developed during the intervention, in which the technologies PHP and SQL were used. A smooth transition process to the new method was planned, keeping, during the early stage, part of the strategies used by the main teacher. At the same time, aspects such as individualized support in classroom, in particular to students with specific educational needs and some specificities related whit matching different elements working groups were subject of investigation and reflection. During and after the intervention, substantial quantitative and qualitative data was collected, from different sources, that allowed to conclude that group work and the problem-based learning method create a suitable strategy to the development of some of the main competences found in PASEO. The reflection done arid the identification of some constraints and restrictions, lead to believe that in future situations it will be possible to improve some aspects and allow students a better performance.
