funcional.
consequentemente, validar a funcionalidade do componente produzido.
In-Mold Electronics or IME is a technology that allows printed electronics to be integrated into plastic components the combination of through injection moulding, enabling the integration of electronic functions in them. This is a technology that has been showing interest at a technological and scientific level, since it allows to eliminate conventional buttons, reducing the complexity of the parts, weight, and multi-material requirements. A product produced using IME technology goes through three fundamental stages, which are: printing the printed patterns on the substrate, thermoforming the film, depending on the product configuration and, finally, injection molding on the thermoformed film, which may or may not integrate components such as sensors, LED’s, etc... In particular in screen printing, the films were printed, varying the percent dilution of the conductive ink and the number of layers to be applied, in order to analyze how these conditions, influence the quality of replication of the printed geometries, as well as how affect the compatibility of materials and the conduction or not of electric current. Then, during thermoforming, the influence of heating on the final aesthetic and functional quality was evaluated. The variables to be studied were exposure time, heating power and emitted vacuum pressure, in order to respect the limitations associated with functional ink. When over injecting the product, the injection speed and melt temperature were analyzed to make it to evaluate the integrity of the printed patterns and, consequently, validate the functionality of the produced component. In parallel, a study was carried out using numerical models and the Moldex 3D software in order to anticipate and analyze the interface between the melted polymer and the film, during the injection molding process. In this way, the remelt was evaluated in particular through temperature, considering the adhesion between the insert and the part, and potential areas of ink dragging were evaluated, as well as the possibility of the appearance of defects. To conclude, was intend to characterize the printed films in order to analyze the compatibility and, in the case of the functional film, the ability to conduct electrical current after the curing, thermoforming and overmolding processes. To achieve this, morphological analysis of the films and measurement of electrical resistance are necessaire to determine whether or not there has been a loss of property throughout the IME process. |
