Expatriation is a concept that has become increasingly well-known. This concept characterises those who decide, on their own initiative, to move to another country in order to work or change their lives. With the increase of the globalization, this phenomenon has been intensifying and this is what this research will focus on, the Brazilian expatriates who came to live in Portugal on their own initiative. This study aims to know the adaptation strategies of Brazilian expatriates who came to live in Portugal on their own initiative, as well as the difficulties they faced in the past. Trying to understand the perceptions of the expatriates, I compared their testimonies with the percentages assigned by the Hofstede Insights website, and I got to the conclusion that the majority of the opinions of the Brazilians interviewed, aligns with the percentages given to the portuguese and brazilian cultures. The results achieved have shown that in general, the adaptation of Brazilian expatriates in Portugal on their own initiative is positive and they feel welcome. However, many of them face difficulties that recur, mainly when entering the labour market and settling in the country. |
