Augmented reality (AR) technology has undergone a positive trend in the last decade, not only in the developed applications, but also, as a research area. In the last few years alone, it has gone from two thousand published articles to three and a half thousand a year and, with this, new techniques and applications also came. This dissertation aims to demonstrate the current state of the art of AR in maintenance and to identify solutions available on the market, as well as the creation of an augmented reality system to support maintenance. For this, an approach was proposed that was divided into six activities. First, an introduction to AR was carried out, in which the categories of hardware, such as HMD, HHD, computers, among others, were presented and the tracking techniques currently used were identified, which could be vision-based or sensor-based. Then, a normal flow of information in AR to support maintenance and type of operations that are associated with this sector (assembly, repair, and diagnosis) were presented, together with the type of support associated with each task. Subsequently, three types of intelligence levels were identified in augmented reality techniques, these being authoring, context-awareness and interaction-analysis, thus introducing intelligent tutors and examples of their uses in each level of intelligence. An analysis of existing solutions on the market was also carried out, where equipment, SDKs and commercial solutions were identified. The solution specification was made, where functionalities were described in the form of requirements and use case diagrams, a layout was also defined, and non-functional prototypes were elaborated. After defining the specification, the decentralized architecture of the system was detailed, the division between the two types of data storage, MySQL and file system was explained, and finally, the functionalities of both developed applications were described, the backoffice app, for the creation of information and the guidance app, for carrying out maintenances. |
