A adaptabilidade do construído possibilitou
An intervention of a ruined building is, increasingly, a recurring process in architecture, implying different approaches, often with the aim of offering a new life to this place. In this sense, this investigation proposes an intervention of the building of the old Adega Cooperativa de Braga, which heritage value can be recognized, after a detailed analysis, not only for its history and memory with the city, but also for its architecture designed by the architect Mário Cândido de Morais Soares in 1958, when Modernism still prevailed in Portugal. The weight of the value of architectural heritage that this building carries has influenced in a certain way, our way of acting, by privileging the valorization of the built through its conservation and revitalization. Thus, the project focuses on the conversion of the old cohabitation program, that is providing the opportunity to open the building to the city, through temporary living and constant sharing of domestic experiences in the same housing space. The adaptability of the built made a dynamic action possible, which sought to harmonize the “new” with the pre-existing, without the intention of harassing them, being therefore made entirely in wood, contrasting with the solidity of the pre-existing concrete and granite. This new element acts as a “parasite” that takes over the building, transforming it into its host. |
