dc.description.abstract | The eating behavior has innumerous implications on the health of individuals. Several researches have focused on the study between personality and eating behavior. Nevertheless, in this field there is a gap in studies that analyze the impact of the relationship between these two variables in a work environment as demanding as the academic. Thus, the goal of this study was to evaluate the relationship between personality traits (Big Five) and the presence of inadequate eating behaviors on academic researchers. The sample included 31 participants (9 males and 22 females), the age range was from 29 to 61 years. The measurements incorporated the “Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire” (TFEQ-26)”, the “Repetitive Eating Questionnaire” (Rep(eat)-Q) and the “Five Factor Personality Inventory” (NEO-FFI). Results showed a positive significant correlation between nibbling behavior, hunger and disinhibition, suggesting a mutual effect between the variables. In parallel, the pattern of nibbling is associated with a higher score in Neuroticism and lower scores in Conscientiousness. The findings also show that nibbling behavior could have a leverage effect on hunger and disinhibition behaviors. Further investigations are needed to develop more efficient intervention programs regarding inadequate eating patterns in such demanding careers. | por |
