neste componente. The evolution of structures and structural components is a sequential process. The introduction of new materials, new manufacturing methods and the appearance of solutions to improve the components’ behavior allow this evolution. The footwear industry is one of the main industries in Portugal, therefore its development is imperative. This work is directed at the use of new steels, in this case high strength steels, in a footwear component, the shoe shank. Hence, the currently utilized steels, which usually include heat treatment to improve their resistance, were replaced. Thus, a market analysis was conducted in terms of existing geometries for this component. Beyond that, experimental tests were performed in order to identify its behavior when subjected to loads. Through numerical simulation in software SolidWorks with nonlinear analysis in the plastic domain, it was possible to study the resistance of the component with different materials and geometries. The obtained results were experimentally validated, which allowed to extend the numerical study to alternative geometries and, therefore, to achieve a solution for high strength steels being able to be used in this component. |
