Expectativa salarial dos estudantes de medicina

Abstract

As expectativas salariais desempenham um papel importante para os estudantes de medicina na sua escolha de carreira. Atualmente existe uma grande insatisfação salarial na classe médica na Europa, por esse motivo, torna-se importante estudar qual a expectativa dos estudantes de medicina para percebermos, por um lado que fatores condicionam essas expectativas, e, por outro lado, perceber quanto representam as suas expectativas salariais. Assim este estudo tem como principal objetivo explorar as expectativas salariais dos estudantes do curso de medicina do 1º ao 6º ano nas faculdades de medicina de Portugal e perceber que fatores afetam as mesmas. Foi desenvolvido um questionário que avaliou as expectativas salariais dos estudantes de medicina das faculdades portuguesas obteve a participação voluntária de 455 estudantes de medicina. Foram analisadas as principais motivações para o estudo da medicina, expectativas de carreira e percurso profissional, bem como as expectativas salariais em dois momentos da carreira. Os resultados indicam que a expectativa salarial durante o internato varia bastante (coeficiente de variação de 47%) e que a expectativa salarial após 10 anos do término do curso de medicina apresenta ainda maior variabilidade (coeficiente de variação 76%). Ao longo do estudo foi ainda possível descrever alguns fatores que condicionam as expectativas salariais, nomeadamente existe relação estatisticamente significativas entre: A expectativa salarial e o género; A expectativa salarial e os motivos para os estudantes ingressarem no curso de medicina; A expectativa salarial e o número de locais de trabalho onde os estudantes esperam vir a exercer; A espectativa salarial e o setor onde os estudantes esperam vir a trabalhar; A espectativa salarial e a expectativa de emigração; A expectativa salarial e o facto de os estudantes de medicina conhecerem pessoas próximas de si que sejam médicos

Wage expectations play an important role for medical students in their career choice. Currently, there is great wage dissatisfaction among the medical profession in Europe, for this reason, it is important to study the expectations of medical students so that we can understand, on the one hand, what factors condition these expectations, and, on the other hand, understand how much the your wage expectations. Therefore, this study's main objective is to explore the wage expectations of medical students from the 1st to the 6th year at medical schools in Portugal and understand which factors affect them. A questionnaire was developed that assessed the wage expectations of medical students at Portuguese universities, with the voluntary participation of 455 medical students. The main motivations for studying medicine, career expectations and professional path, as well as wage expectations at two career stages were analyzed. The results indicate that wage expectations during internship vary considerably (variation coefficient of 47%) and that wage expectations 10 years after finishing medical school show even greater variability (variation coefficient 76%). Throughout the study, it was also possible to describe some factors that affect wage expectations, namely that there is a statistically significant relationship between: Wage expectations and gender; wage expectations and reasons for students to enroll in medicine; Wage expectations and the number of workplaces where students expect to work; Wage expectations and the sector where students expect to work; Wage expectations and emigration expectations; Wage expectations and the fact that medical students know people close to them who are doctors.
