O Solar de Paçô Vieira: análise histórico-formal de uma habitação nobre em Guimarães

Abstract

O Solar de Paçô Vieira, situado na freguesia de Mesão Frio, em Guimarães, consiste numa habitação senhorial marcadamente barroca. Da análise dos seus componentes formais e espaciais é se remetido para o século XVIII, período áureo do estilo que esta representa. No entanto, ao longo desta dissertação foram encontrados indícios documentais, que fazem recuar a sua origem a uma habitação rural em meados do século XVI. Tal como o nome indica, esta casa está associada à família do Conde de Paçô Vieira, antigo ministro das Obras Públicas, Comércio e Indústria. A influência desta personalidade e a ascensão social da sua família refletem-se na evolução desta casa, bem como na organização dos terrenos ao seu redor. Atualmente, a casa encontra-se desabitada e parcialmente abandonada, o que se reflete no seu estado de degradação, uma circunstância que, só por si, legitima a pertinência do estudo aqui apresentado, mas também pelo seu valor histórico e arquitetónico. O principal objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver um estudo histórico e morfológico do objeto de estudo, procurando decompor a sua forma em função das distintas campanhas construtivas, fundamentado no seu estudo métrico e proporcional, na recolha bibliográfica, no levantamento métrico e fotográfico e nos testemunhos conseguidos. O cruzamento destas informações, com o contexto histórico-artístico coevo, permitiram, através de um processo especulativo, determinar as diferentes fases morfológicas e traçar uma linha cronológica evolutiva das suas formas. O desenvolvimento deste estudo torna-se de maior necessidade e importância, não só pelo estado degradado do Solar e consequente perda material, mas também pela escassa informação documental escrita e gráfica existente, fazendo desta dissertação, um dos poucos elementos que retrata o objeto em profundidade. Um estudo que documenta o caso em apreço, bem como, poderá informar um processo de intervenção futuro.

The Solar de Paçô Vieira, situated in the parish of Mesão Frio, in Guimarães, consists of a markedly baroque manor house. Through the analysis of its formal and spatial components, it brings us to the XVIII century, a golden period for the style it represents. In the meanwhile, throughout this dissertation some documentary evidence was found, that brings the origin of a rural housing in the middle of the XVI century. Just like the name indicates, this house is associated to the family of the Count of Paçô Vieira, former minister of the Public Works, Commerce and Industry. The influence of this personality and the social ascension of his family reflects in the evolution of this house as well as the organization of the land around it. Nowadays, this house is inhabited and partially abandoned, which is reflected in its state of degradation and consequently material loss, but mainly on its historical and architectural value. The main objective of this document was to develop an historic, genealogic and morphologic study of the study object, looking to break down its shape in function of distinct constructive campaigns grounding on its metrical and proportional study, in the metrical and photographic gathering and the testimonies collected. The crossing of this information, with the visual analysis carried out and the coeval art-historical context, allowed, through a speculative process, to determine the different morphological phases and to draw an evolutive chronological line of its shapes. The development of this study becomes of a bigger importance and necessity, not only by the degraded state of the Solar and consequential material loss, but also for the scarce written and graphical documental information existent, making this dissertation, one of the few elements that represents the object in-depth. A study that documents the case under consideration, as well as it may inform a process for future intervention.
