realidade, as forças políticas procuraram investir nesta prática, resultando no desenvolvimento
as águas termais.
Thermal pratice played a key role in human evolution, as part of the customs of many civilations. The therapeutic benefits discovered throught mineral water springs studeis contributed to major advances in medicine. Faced with this reality, political forces seek to invest in this pratice, resulting in economic development of many regions in Europe. On the other hand, the evolution of architecture has made new forms to experience the thermal waters. In this way, architecture by subtracion was one of methods most used for the thermal architecture evolution. This method is also used by architects today, with the aim of giving shape to the void after the act of subtraction. The relationship between the thermal pratice and the architecture by subtration, contributes to transformation of medicinal thermal pratice in leisure spa pratice. As a result of my close contect with the spa twon of Caldelas and its importance for evolution of portuguese thermalism, I necame interest in this region’s spa complex and its important territorial characteristics for the use of architecture by subtration. In this context that this project seeks to architect a new thermal complex linked to leisure with the aim of extending thermal pratice in Caldelas to new visitors, allowing for economic and strategic development of this region. As happened with constrution of the Vidago Palace Spa by architect Álvaro Siza and the constrution of the Vals thermal complex by the architect Peter Zumthor. |
