O contributo do turismo de eventos desportivos para o desenvolvimento turístico do município de Guimarães: estudo de caso do Vitória Sport Clube

Abstract

O turismo assume-se como um importante fenómeno e que tem vindo a crescer em todo o mundo. Podendo ter várias tipologias, o turismo de eventos é uma das divisões que tem acompanhado esse crescimento, sendo cada vez mais uma aposta por parte dos destinos que veem nas competições a oportunidade para exportarem a imagem do destino, de modo a atraírem mais turistas, e aumentarem a possibilidade de negócio. A presente investigação tem como objetivo principal compreender qual é a perceção dos comerciantes da cidade de Guimarães e do Vereador da Cultura, Modernização Administrativa e Qualidade, Sistemas Inteligentes e de Informação, Atendimento ao Público, Recursos Humanos e Turismo da Câmara Municipal de Guimarães, Dr. Paulo Lopes Silva, relativamente aos impactes sociais, ambientais, económicos e principalmente turísticos dos eventos desportivos, nomeadamente os organizados pelo Vitória Sport Club e. São também avançadas propostas na organização destes eventos através das diferentes opiniões dos comerciantes. De forma a responder a este objetivo principal foram realizados sessenta e um inquéritos por questionário aos comerciantes vimaranenses e uma entrevista ao Dr. Paulo Lopes Silva. A escolha desta temática decorreu do facto de haver poucos estudos sobre o clube de futebol Vitória Sport Clube. As perceções tanto do vereador como dos comerciantes foram de que estes eventos são benéficos para a cidade de Guimarães. No entanto, consideramos necessário o trabalho em conjunto entre estes stakeholders, por forma a tornar os eventos mais vantajosos para o desenvolvimento turístico de Guimarães.

Tourism is an important phenomenon that has been growing all over the world. Being able to have several typologies, event tourism is one of the divisions that has accompanied this growth, being increasingly a bet on the part of destinations that see in competitions the opportunity to export the image of the destination in order to bring more tourists, and consequently business possibility. The present investigation aims to understand the perception of local merchants in the city of Guimarães and the councilor for Culture, Administrative Modernization and Quality, Intelligent and Information Systems, Public Service, Human Resources and Tourism of the Municipality of Guimarães, regarding the social, environmental, economic and mainly tourist impacts related to sporting events, namely those organized by Vitória Sport Clube. It also advises improvements in the organization of these events through the different opinions of traders. As a way of responding to this objective, sixty-one questionnaire surveys were carried out with Guimarães traders and an interview with Dr. Paulo Lopes Silva, councilor for Culture, Administrative Modernization and Quality, Intelligent and Information Systems, Public Service, Human Resources and Tourism at the Guimarães City Council. The choice of this theme was due to the fact that these events are little studied, mainly in relation to the city of Guimarães and the football club Vitória Sport Clube, as well as other clubs in Portugal and the respective cities that host them. The perceptions of the councilor as of the inquired merchants were that these events are beneficial for the city of Guimarães. However, we believe that it is appropriate for the various entities to work together in order to make the events more advantageous and important for the tourist development of Guimarães.
