The present dissertation proposes to understand the relationship that can be established between curricular autonomy and the improvement of the quality of the educational environment in the early childhood education stage, in the understanding that curricular autonomy has established strong connections with the quality of the educational offer, recognizing that early childhood education is an essential step in the process of human formation, which needs to meet contemporary demands in the construction of a more equitable, socially just and sustainable society. Having as the core objective: To analyze the impact and connections between curricular autonomy and the improvement of the quality of the educational environment in the early childhood stage, and as secondary objectives: To identify indicators of quality of the educational environment in early childhood education; Understand the relationship between curricular autonomy and conditions that promote the improvement of the quality of early childhood education in Brazil; Identify factors that educators point out as inhibitors and/or stimulators of curricular autonomy; Discuss the conditions that are allowed for educators in decision-making, both in terms of the design/organization of the curriculum, spaces and times, as well as planned experiences in everyday life and communicate, as a transversal/disciplinary space, lessons learned/recommendations for policy makers and coordinators of early childhood education in Brazil, with the aim of, based on the empirical evidence that emerges from the study, proposing a debate on the quality of early childhood education in Brazil. With the intention of investigating how curricular autonomy promotes the improvement of the quality of the educational environment in the early childhood education stage and what are the benefits that result in guaranteeing the provision of quality early childhood education in Brazil. We will resort to a qualitative approach through an exploratory study, of an interpretive character, the bibliographic research and the realization of the focus group technique, as data collection, which was composed of 09 (nine) educators from an early childhood education institution of the Public Education Network in a city in the state of Bahia, in the Northeast region of Brazil. Content analysis was the technique selected for data analysis and interpretation. The main results of this investigation reveal that educators perceive their autonomy in a contradictory way, considering an overload in the curricular doing, but also necessary for the curricular contextualization of pedagogical practices. They believe that curricular autonomy can interfere with the educational quality offered, as a direct relationship is conferred between curricular autonomy and the parameters that make up the quality. It is also revealed that institutional planning, training and working conditions and experiences, spaces, materials and time are quality parameters that have been shown to limit the curricular autonomy of educators. I point out the potential of curricular autonomy as a promoter of curricular innovation in early childhood education. |
