Estudo sobre os investidores privados chineses em Portugal

Abstract

Enquadramento: A conjuntura económica, política e social de Portugal coloca o país no mapa dos investidores estrangeiros, em especial chineses. Este trabalho coloca o foco nas dinâmicas da relação de negócio entre investidor chinês e o proprietário/representante. O objetivo visa identificar fatores que potenciam a desistência de processos negociais, do ponto de vista do investidor, e produzir informação que contribua para uma capitalização eficaz das oportunidades de investimento. Revisão de Literatura: Apresenta uma contextualização histórico-política da China desde o início da sua abertura económica até os tempos atuais. Investiga a cultura de negócios, os principais conceitos e avalia o impacto da transformação económica da China na respetiva cultura, sem deixar de identificar diferenças comparativamente com a cultura ocidental. Metodologia: Para a concretização do objetivo, foi criado um guião de entrevista com um conjunto de questões especialmente desenvolvidas para responder a determinados objetivos específicos. De seguida foram realizadas 10 entrevistas a investidores chineses, cuja informação emergente foi tratada em software de análise de dados qualitativos. Resultados: Os dados indicam que o investidor chinês valoriza, na sua relação de negócios, características associadas à amigabilidade, à capacidade linguística e um conjunto de aspetos ligados a uma postura profissional considerada adequada. Na outra face da moeda, os principais fatores de desistência são a falta de informação e detalhes sobre as oportunidades de investimento, o oportunismo e questões diversas no domínio da ética e profissionalismo, por exemplo, desonestidade. A estes, soma se a lentidão dos processos, bem como a falta de retorno financeiro dos projetos em análise. Conclusão: Há uma manifesta impreparação por parte dos proprietários/representantes, assim como um amadorismo e uma tentativa de aproveitamento relativamente aos investidores chineses. Sugere-se uma aposta na construção de relações de confiança, recorrendo a uma língua comum, bem como às melhores práticas profissionais. A cultura chinesa mantém uma influencia considerável nos negócios e o conhecimento dos principais conceitos é muito aconselhável.

Framework: The economic, political and social environment of Portugal places the country on the foreign investors’ map, particularly the Chinese investors. This work focuses on the dynamics of the business relation between the Chinese investor and the property owner/representative. The objective is to identify the factors that promote the withdrawal of business processes, from the investor point of view, and produce information that can contribute for an effective capitalization of the business opportunities. Literature Review: It presents an historical-political contextualization of China since the beginning of the economic opening until present times. It investigates the business culture, their main concepts and it evaluates the impact of the economic transformation of China in its culture, without failing to identify differences, comparatively with the western culture. Methodology: In order to achieve the objective, it was formulated an interview script with a list of questions specially developed to answer to a group of specific objectives. Then, 10 interviews to Chinese investors were carried out, from which the emerging information was treated in a qualitative analysis software. Results: The data indicates the Chinese investor values, in its business relation, characteristics associated to friendliness, language ability and a set of aspects related to a professional approach considered appropriate. On the flip side of the coin, the main withdrawal factors are the lack of information and details about the business investment opportunities, opportunism and diverse issues in the field of ethics and professionalism, for instance, dishonesty. Added to these is the slowness of the processes, as well as the lack of financial return of the projects under analysis. Conclusion: There is a clear unpreparedness on the part of the property owners/representatives, and an amateurism and an attempt to take advantage of Chinese investors. It is suggested to bet on the commitment to building trusting relationships, using a common language but also the best professional practices. Chinese culture maintains a considerable influence on business and the knowledge of the main concepts is highly advisable.
