e sobrepeso.
Introduction: Food addition (FA) is an emerging conceptualization that addresses the possible additive processes related to hyperpalatable foods, and often appears associated with eating behavior problems, difficulties in emotional regulation, negative urgency and overweight. Objectives: This study aimed to (1) assess and characterize the frequency of FA in a university population; (2) compare the groups with and without FA considering difficulties in emotional regulation, negative urgency, and grazing; (3) assess the predictors of FA; and (4) understand if there are and which are the moderators present in the associations between FA and the other variables. Method: Three hundred and thirty-eight university students of both sexes were assessed using self report instruments at a single time point. Results: The frequency of FA in this population was 10.7%. Participants with FA had higher difficulties in emotional regulation, higher negative urgency, and higher grazing behavior. Difficulties in emotional regulation and grazing were predictors of FA, and the negative urgency evidenced a moderating role in these relations. Discussion: In addiction to presenting more grazing behaviors, individuals with FA have deficits regarding the regulation of emotions, acting more precipitately in the face of negative emotions. |
