Biblioteca humana: mediação e desenvolvimento (inter)cultural no Concelho de Braga

Abstract

A Biblioteca Humana é um método de aproximação dos contadores de histórias com os seus leitores-ouvintes com a intenção de criar um diálogo e uma interação entre os mesmos. Os livros humanos contam suas histórias e experiências de vida, potenciando o respeito pelos direitos humanos e estimulando a compreensão e o reconhecimento mútuo. O texto que se apresenta resulta de um projeto de investigação-ação que teve como finalidade promover a interculturalidade na cidade de Braga, mobilizando os recursos disponíveis através da mediação intercultural. A metodologia utilizada no desenvolvimento deste projeto assenta numa abordagem sócio-crítica, com recurso ao método de investigação-ação, e nos seguintes objetivos de investigação: compreender as potencialidades da mediação para a promoção da interculturalidade e analisar novas formas de potenciar a inclusão dos migrantes na cidade de Braga. Os principais objetivos de intervenção visam promover o diálogo intercultural e favorecer o (re)conhecimento das diversas culturas no Município de Braga. Para a concretização destes objetivos foi implementada a Biblioteca Humana em diferentes contextos: numa Biblioteca Pública da cidade com jovens e adultos e numa Escola Básica e Secundária com estudantes do 9.º e 12.ºanos. Os resultados revelam ser uma estratégia importante para o conhecimento e reconhecimento cultural mútuo e para a valorização humana, particularmente revelador junto dos leitores-ouvintes jovens e adultos e dos livros humanos.

The Human Library is a method of bringing storytellers closer to their reader-listeners with the intention of creating a dialogue and interaction between them. The human books tell their stories and life experiences, enhancing respect for human rights and stimulating understanding and mutual recognition. The text presented here is the result of an action-research project that aimed to promote interculturality in the city of Braga, mobilizing available resources through intercultural mediation. The methodology used in the development of this project is based on a socio-critical approach, using the action-research method, and on the following research objectives: to understand the potentialities of mediation for the promotion of interculturality and to analyze new ways to enhance the inclusion of migrants in the city of Braga. The main intervention goals are to promote intercultural dialogue and to foster the acknowledgement of the several cultures in the city of Braga. To achieve these goals, the Human Library was implemented in different contexts: in a Public Library of the city with young people and adults, and in a Primary and Secondary School with 9th and 12th grade students. The results reveal to be an important strategy for mutual cultural acknowledgement and recognition and for human appreciation, particularly revealing with young and adult readers-listeners and human books.
