Questionário de motivos de abandono: validação junto de estudantes do 1º ano do ensino superior em Angola

Abstract

O processo de redimensionamento do Ensino Superior (ES) em Angola, que originou a criação de várias regiões académicas, teve como um dos objetivos o alargamento da população estudantil que acede ao ensino superior, proporcionando ao país uma rápida e massiva expansão do ensino superior e abrindo o acesso ao ES de muitos jovens e adultos. Essa expansão do acesso no ES, aumentou significativamente o número e diversidade da população ingressante ao ensino superior, havendo agora a entrada de subgrupos específicos não tradicionais e com maior risco de insucesso e abandono. O objetivo deste artigo foi adaptar e validar o Questionário de Motivos de Abandono ao Ensino Superior junto dos estudantes angolanos. O questionário foi aplicado a uma amostra de 257 estudantes ingressantes no Ensino Superior, do Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação do Sumbe – Cuanza Sul (Angola). A análise fatorial permitiu manter a estrutura da escala em seis dimensões ou possíveis motivos ou causas do abandono: sociais, académicos, professores, saúde e bem-estar, institucional e financeiro. A consistência interna dos itens para cada uma destas seis dimensões atingiu valores adequados. Os indicadores de precisão e validade mostram-se adequados à utilização do questionário na investigação sobre os motivos de abandono do ES angolano.

One of the objectives of the income process in higher education in Angola, which led to creation of several academic regions, was to expand the student population that accesses higher education, providing the country with a rapid and massive expansion of higher education. The access expansion significantly increased the number and diversity of the incoming population, with entry and attendance now by specific non-traditional subgroups with a greater risk of failure and abandonment. The purpose of this research study article was to adapt and validate the questionnaire on dropping out reasons in higher education (QMA-ES) with Angolan students. The questionnaire was applied to a sample of 257 students entering higher education, from the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Sumbe – Cuanza Sul (Angola). The factor analysis allowed to maintain the number in six dimensions of the reason of the abandon: social, academic, teachers, health and well-being, institutional and financial reasons. The internal consistency of the items for each of this six dimensions reached adequate values. The accuracy and validity indicators are suitable for the use of the questionnaire in the reasons of the investigation for Angolan higher education students dropping out.
