Resumo(s)Millions of blood analysis tests are performed every day worldwide in order to provide blood diagnostic services for the patients. To date diagnostic devices at the market use measuring techniques developed since the last century to analyze blood samples, these techniques face multiple challenges like the need for releasing the results precisely and fast, high availability, potential toxic impact on humans and the environment, and energy consumption. Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a field that has undergone rapid development over the past decade with a promise of easier, more rapid, and more objective diagnosis. The FTIR spectroscopy as a new diagnosis technique foreseeable to bring a significant gain to health sector professionals and improve the quality of life of the population in different aspects and overall accelerate the convergence towards sustainable development goals (SDG). This paper aims to address this topic by analyzing how the FTIR spectroscopy contributes to reaching the SDGs either directly and indirectly with a major emphasis on the case of developing countries.
