Produção de conteúdo bilingue na arqueologia e museologia

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio tem como objetivo descrever as atividades realizadas durante o Estágio Curricular desenvolvido na Sociedade Martins Sarmento, a fim de obter o grau de Mestre em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue pela Escola de Letras, Artes e Ciências Humanas da Universidade do Minho. O setor do turismo tem-se revelado um dos setores com maior potencial para a economia portuguesa. Os museus são, essencialmente, uma forma de mostrar a nossa cultura e história, portanto, é imprescindível que a informação que neles existe se encontre acessível em várias línguas. Daí que a atividade principal do estágio tenha sido a tradução para o inglês, mais especificamente. Durante o estágio foram realizadas três atividades: duas de tradução e uma de revisão, trabalhando sempre com e para o inglês. Essas três atividades consistiram na revisão de um artigo apresentado no Colóquio Internacional da Comissão Científica “Metal Ages in Europe”, a tradução de um projeto de investigação científica para FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia), e a tradução do guia informativo “Citânia de Briteiros e Castro de Sabroso. Notícia Complementar”, na qual também foi elaborada uma base terminológica.

This internship report aims to describe the activities performed during the Curricular Internship developed at Sociedade Martins Sarmento in order to obtain a Master’s degree in Translation and Multilingual Communication from the ELACH of the University of Minho. Tourism has proven to be one of the sectors with great potential for the Portuguese economy. Museums are essentially a way of showing our culture and history, so it is essential that the information they provide is accessible in several languages. Thus, the main activity of the internship consisted in translation into English. Three activities were carried out during the internship: two translations and a text revision (quality assurance); working always in and to English. These three activities consisted in the revision of an article from the Scientific Commission “Metal Ages in Europe” for the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences (UISPP), the translation of a scientific research project for FCT (Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology.), and the translation of the informative guide “Citânia de Briteiros and Castro de Sabroso. Complementary Note” from which a term base was built.
