Resumo(s): | The development of fungi on surfaces inside buildings is an aesthetic and hygienic problem, leading to the degradation of the interior environment quality and the cause of respiratory diseases. The evolution of nanotechnology is at the heart of many industries. In civil construction, the use of carbon nanotubes in concrete, and the coating and impregnation of wood, paint, and glass, among other uses, are a good example of applications. The use of nano-TiO2 in several industries as an antifungal served as a beacon in this study, in order to assess its applicability. Microcork granules were used in a perspective of sustainability and reuse of industrial by-product. In this chapter, a comparative analysis of the additives mixed manually in mortars based on hydraulic lime between nano-TiO2 and microcork granules will be carried out. The use of this technique for antifungal protection in buildings aims to prevent the development of fungi on walls and ceilings, thus contributing to the reduction of the following problems: odors, hygiene, aesthetic, and respiratory diseases. |
