biológicas do fungo.
In a protected cultivation, tomato plants are susceptible to a great diversity of pests and diseases, among them, root-knot nematodes (RKN), which cause serious damage. Nematicides are being banned due to their toxicity, so it is necessary to investigate sustainable strategies for NGR control. In this work, the success of two strategies was evaluated in a field trial: the application of the nematophagous fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia and grafting onto a partially resistant rootstock. The field trial was carried out in a greenhouse infested by Meloidogyne incognita, where a design of four treatments (combinations of grafting and application of the fungus) was installed. The effects of the various pesticides, applied in the field, were evaluated in vitro on different biological phases of the fungus. In the field, the fungus was established in the soil only after two applications, having colonized the soil and plant roots of the various treatments in a similar way, with no differences found between treatments in the nematode reproduction or in the parasitism of eggs by the fungus. Thus, none of the applied strategies, or their combination, were successful in controlling M. incognita. From the results of in vitro tests, the pesticides applied throughout the test may have affected the establishment of the fungus, reducing its performance as a biological control agent. Of the 12 pesticides tested, in general, only the insecticides Mesurol 200 and Oberon and fungicide Ridomil Gold R did not produce a negative effect on the growth of the fungus (p >0.05), with the fungicides, in general, causing a more pronounced negative effect. The fungicides Signum, Scala, Azbany, Cupramax and Melody Cobre and the insecticide Boreal produced a doseresponse inhibitory effect on the grouwth of the fungis with Ec50 values between 5 and 214 ppm. The germination of chlamydospores in a pesticide medium, at 100 ppm active substance, was affected by all pesticides, with the exception of three insecticides, while the germination of chlamydospores exposed for 45 days to pesticides was affected by all formulations. However, it was possible to realize that some pesticides are more compatible with the fungus and that studies like the presente study will be relevant for the sustainable management of RKN. |
