Relação entre uso problemático de internet e dos videojogos com o consumo de substâncias, variáveis psicológicas e pratica de actividade física entre adolescentes em Portugal: um estudo preliminar

Abstract

Atualmente o uso problemático de internet (UPI) e videojogos (UPV) é elevado. A literatura sugere que existem similaridades entre esta adição e às já conhecidas, como drogas, álcool e também jogos de azar. Foi também sugerido que a existência de fatores de risco quanto à sua aquisição e/ou manutenção tal como a baixa empatia, alta impulsividade e outros fatores psicológicos. O presente estudo teve como objetivos 1) encontrar relações entre o uso problemático dos videojogos/internet, com o consumo de substâncias, fatores psicológicos e a prática de atividade física entre os estudantes adolescentes; e 2) explorar possíveis diferenças entre sexos quanto ao uso de videojogos/internet, o consumo de substâncias, a prática de atividade física e as suas características psicológicas associadas. A amostra foi constituída por 82 alunos do 10º ano. Os resultados mostraram que o UPV correlacionou positivamente com o UPI e negativamente com a empatia, enquanto o UPI correlacionou positivamente com a impulsividade e negativamente com a indiferença. Para além disso o sexo masculino mostrou uma maior severidade do UPV, maior insensibilidade e menor empatia. É possível concluir a existência de uma ligação entre o UPI e o UPV, e que as diferenças entre sexos seguem o previsto cientificamente.

Nowadays the problematic use of Internet (PUI) and gaming (PUG). its high. The literature suggests that there are similarities between this disorder and other well-known addictions, like substance consumption. Was also suggested that there are risk factors to the acquisition and/or maintenance of the disorder like the empathy, impulsivity, and other psychological factors. The present study has the main goal 1) find associations between problematic gaming/internet, substance use, psychological traces and physical activity between adolescents; 2) differences between sex in terms of gaming/internet use, substance use, psychological traces and physical activity. The sample consists in 82 students from the 10th grade. The results regarding that PUG has an positive association between PUI use, and negatively with the empathy, while PUI has an positive association with impulsivity and a negative with the uncaring. Males vary with females, having more PUG severity, less empathy and more callous-unemotional. We can conclude that there is a connection between PUG and PUI, and the sex variations are also found in the literature.
