Programme and abstracts of the 5th International Conference on Sexuality and Sexual Education: Interaction, Interdependence and Intersectionality

Abstract

This book presents the 5th International Conference on Sexuality and Sexual Education: Interaction, Interdependence, and Intersectionality that was held at the Institute of Education, University of Minho, Braga, Portugal, from November 28-30, 2019. This is the fifth conference of a sequence that is held, alternately and biannually, in Portugal and Brazil, in the institutions that house a group of researchers who work collaboratively in research on sexuality and sexual education, and that constitute the network responsible for this initiative: University of Minho (UM); University of Lisbon (UL); University of Aveiro (UA); Superior School of Education of Coimbra (ESEC); Paulista State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP); the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). The purpose that unifies the realization of these conferences is the study of sexuality as an interdisciplinary theme that unfolds in several areas of investigation and intervention, among them sexual education. In this context, this 5th Conference focuses on a theme that reflects on one of the main current controversies in sexuality and sexuality education, by assuming as a central concern to (re) think about ways of conceptualizing, working, and investigating interaction, interdependence and intersectionality of social relations in this area. The 5th CISES was officially recognized by the Portuguese National Commission for UNESCO, Schools for Health in Europe Foundation (SHE), Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE) and Portuguese Foundation the Community Against AIDS (FPCCS). During the 5th CISES there was opportunities to discuss different themes, namely: Sexuality, Health and Human rights; Sexuality, Gender, Diversity and Inclusion; Body, Eroticism and Sexuality; Research and Practices in Sexuality and Sexual Education; Sexuality, Gender and Media; Sexuality, Sexual Education and Teacher Training; Public Policies in Sexuality and Sexual Education. This international conference brought together a number of experts from universities, policy makers, researchers, teacher trainers, professionals of education (Early Childhood Educators, Teachers of Preparatory/ Basic and Secondary Schools and Higher Education), health professionals, students attending courses at higher education levels in the fields of education, sexuality or health, psychologists, sociologists and all those interested in the theme of this conference. A total of 87 proposals of Brasil, Italy, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, and the UK, have been submitted to this 5th CISES.

Este livro apresenta o 5º Congresso Internacional sobre Sexualidade e Educação Sexual: Interação, Interdependência e Interseccionalidade, a ser realizada no Instituto de Educação da Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal, de 28 a 30 de novembro de 2019. Este é o quinto Congresso de uma sequência que se realiza, alternada e bianualmente, em Portugal e no Brasil, nas instituições que alojam um grupo de investigadores/as que trabalham colaborativamente em investigação sobre Sexualidade e Educação Sexual e que constituem a rede responsável por esta iniciativa: Universidade do Minho (UM); Universidade de Lisboa (UL); Universidade de Aveiro (UA); Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra (ESEC); Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP); Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC). A finalidade que unifica a realização destes congressos é o estudo da sexualidade como tema interdisciplinar que se desdobra em várias áreas de investigação e intervenção, entre elas a educação sexual. Neste contexto, o 5º Congresso centra-se num tema que reflete uma das principais controvérsias atuais na sexualidade e educação sexual, ao assumir como preocupação central (re)pensar as formas de conceitualizar, trabalhar e investigar a interação, interdependência e interseccionalidade das relações sociais nesta área. O 5º CISES foi oficialmente reconhecido pela Comissão Nacional Portuguesa da UNESCO, Fundação Escolas para Saúde na Europa (SHE), Associação para a Formação de Professores na Europa (ATEE) e Fundação Portuguesa a Comunidade contra a SIDA (FPCCS). Durante o 5º CISES discutiram-se diferentes temas, nomeadamente Sexualidade, Saúde e Direitos Humanos; Sexualidade, Género, Diversidade e Inclusão; Corpo, Erotismo e Sexualidade; Pesquisa e Práticas em Sexualidade e Educação Sexual; Sexualidade, Género e Mídia; Sexualidade, Educação Sexual e Formação de Professores; Políticas públicas em sexualidade e educação sexual. Este congresso internacional reuniu uma série de especialistas de universidades, formuladores de políticas, investigadores, formadores de professores, profissionais da educação (educadores de infância, professores de escolas preparatórias / básicas e secundárias e educação superior), profissionais de saúde e estudantes a frequentarem cursos de 1.º, 2.º e 3.º ciclos nos domínios da educação, sexualidade e saúde, psicólogos/as, sociólogos/as, entre outros. e todos os interessados no tema desta conferência.No total, foram submetidas ao 5º CISES 87 propostas do Brasil, Itália, Portugal, Espanha, África do Sul e Reino Unido.
