Morbilidade psicológica na endometriose: um estudo com pacientes e parceiros

Abstract

A Endometriose é uma doença ginecológica crónica, cuja etiologia permanece desconhecida. Atualmente, afeta mais de 176 milhões de mulheres no mundo, tendo um forte impacto na morbilidade psicológica. Este estudo procura avaliar as relações entre as variáveis psicológicas das pacientes e parceiros e a contribuição das variáveis clínicas e psicológicas para a morbilidade psicológica da paciente. Participaram no estudo 65 mulheres e os respetivos parceiros, avaliados através dos instrumentos Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS); Couple Satisfaction Index (CSI-4) e Global Measure of Sexual Satisfaction (GMSEX). Os resultados revelaram que a frequência de atividade sexual, a perceção da gravidade dos sintomas e a morbilidade psicológica do parceiro contribuíram para a morbilidade psicológica da paciente. A perceção da gravidade dos sintomas teve um papel moderador na relação entre a satisfação sexual e a morbilidade psicológica na paciente. Nesse sentido, é necessário desenvolver intervenções multidisciplinares de forma a diminuir perceções mais graves dos sintomas nesta população e a sintomatologia ansiosa e depressiva, em contexto diádico.

Endometriosis is an chronic gynecological disease whose etiology remains unknown. Currently, it affects more than 176 million women worldwide, having a strong impact on psychological morbidity. This study aims to evaluate the relationships between the psychological variables of patients and partners and the contribution of clinical and psychological variables in the patient's psychological morbidity. 65 women and their partners participated in the study, who were evaluated through the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS); Couple Satisfaction Index (CSI-4) and Global Measure of Sexual Satisfaction (GMSEX) instruments. The results revealed that the frequency of sexual activity, the perception of the severity of symptoms and the psychological morbidity of the partner contribute to the psychological morbidity of the patient. The perception of the severity of symptoms played a moderating role in the relationship between the patient's sexual satisfaction and the patient's psychological morbidity. Thus, it is important to develop multidisciplinary interventions in order to reduce more severe perceptions of symptoms this population and anxious and depressive symptomatology, in dyadic context.
