Perceção de violência no trabalho em polícias

Abstract

A violência no local de trabalho representa uma questão complexa, que tem recebido interesse crescente ao longo dos anos. O presente estudo incidiu sobre esta temática contra agentes da polícia, tendo como objetivos caracterizar a violência neste contexto, analisar a relação entre a violência e o bem-estar dos profissionais e, finalmente, verificar se a perceção de suporte social em contexto organizacional afeta a força dessa relação, constituindo uma variável moderadora. Participaram no estudo 355 agentes da PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública), dos quais 93.2% do sexo masculino, que responderam a um questionário online, divulgado com a colaboração dos vários Sindicatos. Os resultados indicam que a perceção de violência psicológica é mais prevalente face à violência física e vicariante e que os homens têm maior perceção de violência física em comparação com as mulheres. Constatou-se também que a violência no trabalho tem um impacto negativo sobre o bem-estar individual e, ainda, que o suporte social em contexto organizacional desempenha um papel moderador ao nível desse impacto.

Workplace violence is a complex issue, which has received increasing interest over the years. The present study focuses on this topic against police officers, aiming to characterize violence in this context, to analyze the relationship between violence and the well-being of professionals and, finally, to verify whether the perception of social support in an organizational context affects the strength of this relationship, constituting a moderating variable. 355 police officers of PSP (Public Security Police) participated in the study, of which 93.2% were male, who answered an online questionnaire, disseminated with the collaboration of the several Trade Unions. The results indicate that the perception of psychological violence is more prevalent than physical and vicarious violence and that men have a higher perception of physical violence when compared to women. It was also verified that violence at work has a negative impact on individual well-being and that social support in an organizational context plays a moderating role in terms of this impact.
