Educação e mídias: as telenovelas e formação de professores em educação sexual

Abstract

Esta tese teve como objetivo geral investigar com futuros professores se as telenovelas brasileiras têm um cariz educador ao proporcionarem uma reflexão sobre valores e comportamentos sexuais. A investigação, tipo descritiva, com cunho exploratório e interpretativo, em um primeiro momento apresenta uma análise teórica sobre Mídia e Educação, Televisão, Gênero Telenovela, Sexualidade no Mundo Ocidental, Educação Sexual Emancipatória e Estado da Arte sobre investigações que abordaram questões relativas ao tema sexualidade em telenovelas. Esse momento teve como base teórica estudos realizados com e sobre mídias e educação e sexualidade. Em um segundo momento, para responder à pergunta da pesquisa (As telenovelas brasileiras têm um cariz educador ao proporcionarem uma reflexão sobre valores e comportamentos sexuais?) foram discutidas cenas de telenovelas da Rede Globo de Televisão com temáticas relacionadas à orientação homossexual e à identidade de gênero com Grupos Focais, tendo como participantes estudantes dos cursos de licenciatura da UDESC (Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina). Esses estudantes foram selecionados por meio de um questionário que teve como objetivo verificar quem tinha interesse em participar da pesquisa. A escolha desses temas justifica-se por serem ainda pouco debatidos na sociedade e na escola o que é fundamental na desconstrução de mitos e preconceitos, na promoção de valores democráticos de respeito ao outro e na transformação social. Esse segundo momento teve como base teórica estudos pós-estruturalistas de gênero e homossexualidade. Recolhidos os dados, fez-se sua análise temática na qual foram inferidos tópicos que se desmembraram em importantes temas e subtemas sobre questões tão pouco discutidas e até mesmo invisíveis na sociedade (HOMOSSEXUALIDADE: consciência da orientação sexual: autorrejeição, aceitação por terceiros; homofobia: preconceito e discriminação; estereótipos sexuais: velhice e homossexualidade, ativo e passivo na relação, lésbicas e fetiche; telenovelas como recurso pedagógico: educação sexual e infância, professor mediador. IDENTIDADE DE GÊNERO: transexualidade e orientação sexual; ser transgênero na sociedade heteronormativa: transfobia; ser transgênero em sociedade heteronormativa e questões legais: o uso do nome social; transsexualidade e saúde; educação sexual e identidade de gênero: formação inicial e continuada). Como resultado da análise dos conteúdos, concluiu-se que as telenovelas transmitem informações importantes sobre sexualidade que geram conhecimento sobre o assunto; abrem espaços para sociedade discutir valores e posturas sexuais; são norteadoras para uma busca de autoconhecimento e conhecimento aprofundado sobre sexualidade e educação sexual e podem ser utilizadas como um recurso pedagógico no trabalho de educação sexual em espaços formais e nãos formais de aprendizagem. Constatou-se também haver uma lacuna na formação regular e continuada de professores em sexualidade. Tal fato ocasiona ausência de ações docentes que contemplem o trabalho intencional e formal de educação sexual em instituições de ensino, tão necessárias para que docentes, discentes e gestores possam viver de forma harmoniosa e empática com a diversidade de sexual.

This thesis had as main objective to investigate, with future teachers, if the Brazilian soap operas have an educational aspect by providing a reflection on values and sexual behaviours. The descriptive research, exploratory and interpretive, initially presents a theoretical analysis on Media and Education, Television, Soap Opera Genre, Sexuality in the Western World, Emancipatory Sexual Education and the State of Art of investigations that addressed issues related to the theme sexuality in soap operas. The second part of the thesis was based on studies carried out with and about media and education and sexuality. To answer the research question "Do Brazilian soap operas have an educational aspect in providing a reflection on values and sexual behaviours?", scenes from the Rede Globo television channel soap operas with themes related to homosexual orientation and gender identity were discussed in Focal Groups composed by undergraduate students from the University of Santa Catarina State (UDESC). These students were selected through a questionnaire that identified who had interest in participating in the research. The themes choice is justified by the fact that there is still little debate in society and at school about what is fundamental in the deconstruction of myths and prejudices, in promotion of democratic values of respect for the other and social transformation. Post-structuralist studies of gender and homosexuality were the base for this part of the thesis. After collecting the data, a thematic analysis was carried out, in which topics were broken down into important themes and sub-themes on questions that are so little discussed and even invisible in society (HOMOSEXUALITY: awareness of sexual orientation: self-rejection, acceptance by third parties, homophobia: prejudice and discrimination, sexual stereotypes: old age and homosexuality, active and passive in the relationship, lesbian and fetish, soap operas as a pedagogical resource: sexual education and childhood, mediator teacher; and GENDER IDENTITY: transexualism and sexual orientation, being a transgender in a heteronormative society: transphobia ; transgender in heteronormative society and legal issues: the use of the social name, transexuality and health, sex education and gender identity: initial and continuing education). As a result of the content analysis, it was concluded that: soap operas transmit important information about sexuality that generates knowledge about the subject; open spaces for society to discuss sexual values and attitudes; are guiding for a search for self-knowledge and in-depth knowledge about sexuality and sexual education and can be used as a pedagogical resource in sexual education work in formal and non-formal learning spaces. It was also observed that there is a gap in the regular and continuous training of teachers in sexuality. This fact results in absence of educational actions that contemplate the intentional and formal work of sexual education in educational institutions, what would be important for teachers, students and managers to live in a harmonious and empathetic way with the sexual diversity.
