O vibrato no saxofone: estratégias para a sua aprendizagem no ensino especializado de música

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio reporta-se ao Estágio Profissional do Mestrado em Ensino de Música da Universidade do Minho, realizado no ano letivo 2018-2019 no Conservatório de Música do Porto, nos grupos disciplinares M18 – Saxofone; e M32 – Música de Câmara (Orquestra de Sopros). O Projeto de Intervenção, aplicado a três alunos de Saxofone, nos níveis de 5º, 7º, e 8º grau do Conservatório ao longo do ano letivo de 2018/2019, teve como objetivo geral desenvolver a aprendizagem do vibrato e promover a utilização eficaz deste recurso em função do repertório. Em particular, partindo da identificação das tipologias de vibrato a partir de uma perspetiva histórica e da análise dos materiais didáticos existentes, procurou-se compilar metodologias de aprendizagem e aperfeiçoamento deste recurso expressivo no saxofone, desenvolver materiais didáticos para a sua aprendizagem e dotar os alunos de autonomia que lhes permita adequá-lo ao repertório interpretado. Para o efeito, foram implementados dois grupos de exercícios: um primeiro grupo de carater preparatório donde foram trabalhados conceitos prévios à aprendizagem do vibrato, nomeadamente, a coluna de ar, a qualidade sonora e a afinação, e um segundo grupo formado por exercícios de vibrato. Como resultado da intervenção pedagógica, foi elaborado um manual auxiliar para a aprendizagem do vibrato no saxofone, em que se compilam os exercícios desenvolvidos, implementados e validados pelo projeto de intervenção. Através de instrumentos de recolha de dados na forma de questionário, podemos concluir que este projeto desenvolveu nos alunos uma eficaz aprendizagem do vibrato, motivação para o seu contínuo aperfeiçoamento, e discriminação na aplicação deste recurso ao repertório interpretado.

This internship report relates to the Professional Internship of the Master’s Degree in Music Education at the Universidade do Minho, held in the academic year of 2018-2019 at the Conservatório de Música do Porto, in the disciplinary groups M18 – Saxophone; and M32 – Chamber music, more specific in Wind Orchestra. The Intervention Project, applied to three students of saxophone, in the levels of 5th, 7th, and 8th degree of the Conservatory throughout the academic year of 2018/2019, had the main goal to develop the learning of vibrato and promote the effective use of this resource according to the kind of repertoire. Starting from the identification of vibrato typologies from a historical perspective and from the analysis of existing teaching materials, an attempt was made to compile existing methodologies for learning and improvement of this expressive resource in the saxophone; to develop teaching materials for their learning and to provide the students with the autonomy tool to the interpreted repertoire. For this purpose, a series of exercises developed in two groups for the learning of vibrato were implemented. The first, contains preparatory exercises based in necessary concepts for a good vibrato, as air support, sound quality and tuning, and the second group is specifically aimed to the learning of the vibrato. As a result of the pedagogical intervention, an illustrated manual was developed for saxophone students from which are compiled those exercises and proved to be valid for the learning of the vibrato. Through data collection tools in the form of a questionnaire, we can conclude that this project developed in the students an effective learning of vibrato, motivation for its continuous improvement, and discrimination in the application of this recourse to the interpreted repertoire.
