estatisticamente significativas.
The main objective of the present study is to understand if direct contact with offenders changes the attitudes of the National Republican Guard (GNR) Provisional Guards towards the offenders. In addition, it aims to analyse if sociodemographic and personality variables also influence these attitudes. The Attitude Scale towards Delinquents (EARD) and the NEO-FFI Personality Inventory were administered to a sample of 74 GNR Provisional Guards, in two distinct moments (before and after the internship). The results revealed that in the second moment of evaluation the GNR Provisional Guards evidenced more negative attitudes towards the delinquents than in the first moment. Regarding sociodemographic variables, only previous professional experience as military was statistically significant, and in relation to the personality variables no statistically significant correlations were found. These results emphasize the importance of the initial and continuous training of the GNR Provisional Guards, suggesting the introduction of a psychosocial component in this formation, given their role in the delinquents’ resocialization. |
