No hospital, o brincar permite reduzir as
Introduction: Hospitalization tends to affect the normative developmental path of children and adolescents, influencing their levels of well-being. In the hospital, play allows to reduce negative emotions and feelings and restore the disruption that this have caused in their lives. Therefore, a brief group intervention was developed in the form of a board game aiming to promote a positive experience of hospitalization. Objectives: This study analyzed the impact on the level of affection and perceptions about hospitalization. In addition, we found out what the participants liked most as well as what they learned. Methodology: The intervention was applied in a single moment in public hospitals. The sample comprises seventeen participants aged between 10 and 17 years in a pediatric internment, for at least 24 hours. Results: The results showed an increase in positive affect and a decrease in negative affect on the experimental group comparing to the comparison group. There was a marked decrease in the Negative Perception of the Internment Experience and an increase in the Positive Perception of Experience, as well as in Emotionality/Positive Feelings. The qualitative results of the evaluation of the intervention by the experimental group indicated a positive evaluation. Conclusion: The results confirm the importance and the effects of this type of intervention in a hospital context. |
