Autor(es): | Gonçalves, Andreia do Carmo |

Data: | 2018 |
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the ocular optical properties changes performing tasks on computers. 29 students from the University of Minho participated in this study but only 20 (17 femals and 3 males) remained after applying the inclusion criteria (mean age of 22,7 ± 1,9 years). In a preliminary session, an optometric visual examination was performed to guarantee the inclusion criteria. In the second session, each patient was evaluated for ocular aberrations using a Hartmann- Shack aberrometer before and after performing a 30-minute reading task on a computer. As a result it was observed that there are changes after the use of the computer but those diferences were not statistically significant. The spherical equivalente value (M) was also evaluated and decreased after the task for both pupilar diameters. However, once again, the diferences found were not statistically significant. The value of RMS Total and RMS LOA increased for both the 3 mm and 5 mm pupils, although the differences were statistically significant only for the 3 mm pupil. Conclusion: These results suggests that a tendency for alterations in the optical properties of the human eye exists, although no statistically significant diferences were observed in the ocular aberrations after the task. |
