Transcriação: a face autoral do tradutor: experiência profissional na SDL Portugal

Abstract

A transcriação tem vindo a destacar-se na tradução de textos de teor criativo, principalmente no domínio da publicidade, e tem sido apontada como a estratégia que maior liberdade confere ao tradutor. Porém, esta área é praticamente desconhecida do meio académico e profissional português, e não só, carecendo de investigação, particularmente após a morte de Haroldo de Campos (2003), um poeta, tradutor e crítico literário brasileiro, e um dos poucos ocidentais a debruçar-se sobre este tema. Assim, neste relatório pretendi aprofundar o lugar deste conceito nos Estudos de Tradução, desde a sua origem até à sua aplicabilidade nos nossos dias. Os resultados obtidos através da investigação desta temática foram concretizados em traduções realizadas em contexto real de estágio curricular que teve lugar na empresa SDL Portugal.

Transcreation has been emphasized as a strategy in the translation of creative texts, mainly in the field of advertising, and has been labelled the strategy that confers the greatest freedom to the translator. However, this area is practically unknown to the Portuguese and international academic and professional community, due to a lack of research about the subject, particularly after the death of Haroldo de Campos (2003), a Brazilian poet, literary translator and critic, and one of the few Westerners to look into this topic. Therefore, the aim of this report was to deepen the place of this concept in Translation Studies, from its origin to its applicability nowadays. The results obtained through investigation surrounding this theme were materialized in translations carried out in a real context, during a curricular internship, which took place at SDL Portugal.
