O presente estudo
The worry is a phenomenon transverse to all psychopathologies and for this reason has been a focus of research in Psychology and Health. The present study aimed to validate the Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) for the Portuguese population. It consists of three studies, in the first the objective was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the instrument through an exploratory factorial analysis, with 144 students. The second focused on evaluating the factorial structure in a sample of 179 subjects of the community, through a confirmatory factor analysis. In study three, we compared the results obtained between participants of the community sample and the clinical sample, such as the comparison between PSWQ and other scales. By the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, it was verified that the Portuguese version of the PSWQ is a one-dimensional instrument, however, effects of the method seem to be associated with negative items represented by the second factor. The results showed the appropriate psychometric properties in both samples, emphasize the usefulness of the instrument for clinicians and researchers of Portuguese nationality, that evaluates the presence of worry. |
