Tradução, legendagem e línguas no Canal180

Abstract

Citando José Saramago, “são os autores que fazem as literaturas nacionais, mas são os tradutores que fazem a literatura universal”1. Com a crescente globalização do mundo, o tradutor torna-se cada vez mais num profissional requisitado e parte essencial de uma empresa. A tradução é uma atividade e um meio de comunicação muito antigo. Contudo, os métodos e meios de tradução sofreram alterações, em virtude da necessidade de acompanhar os tempos modernos de evolução tecnológica. Com o aparecimento dos computadores, da internet e dos media surge a Tradução Audiovisual. Este novo género de tradução é fundamental no caso de um canal de televisão cultural, que apresenta conteúdos inovadores, produzidos por uma rede internacional de criadores, como no caso do Canal180. Este relatório pretende ilustrar o estágio inserido no segundo ano do Mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue, realizado no Canal180. Nas tarefas de Tradução houve a possibilidade de trabalhar com dois suportes de texto: o audiovisual e o escrito. Porém, o estágio realizado concentrou-se maioritariamente na tradução audiovisual. No campo da Comunicação Multilingue foram realizadas entrevistas, produção de eventos e de projetos do Canal180. Este relatório visa analisar os trabalhos realizados, as dificuldades sentidas na área da Tradução Audiovisual, e ilustrar a importância da tradução, da legendagem e das línguas num canal de televisão.

Through the increasing globalization of the world, the translator becomes a required professional and an essential part of a company. Translation is an ancient activity and way of communication. However, translation processes and methods have changed because there was the need to follow the modern times of technological evolution. With the appearance of computers, internet and media, the Audiovisual Translation emerges. This new form of translation is fundamental on a cultural TV channel which has innovative contents produced by an international network of creators, as is the case of Canal180. This project aims to illustrate the curricular internship in the second year of the Translation and Multilingual Communication Master’s degree, on the TV channel Canal180. On the field of Translation I had the opportunity to work on two textual supports: the audiovisual and the written text. The bulk of the work in this internship was focused on audiovisual translation. On the field of Multilingual Communication I did some interviews and I helped on the production of events and projects of the TV channel. This report will analyze the projects done, the difficulties felt in the area of Audiovisual Translation and it will illustrate the importance of translation, subtitling and languages on a TV channel.
