Revisitação gelpiana da educação permanente: ambiguidades e erosão política de um conceito

Abstract

As ambiguidades do conceito de educação ao longo da vida são analisadas em termos pedagógicos e culturais, bem como em termos políticos. A educação ao longo da vida pode ser orientada para a integração e subordinação dos indivíduos na ordem social, em busca de adaptação funcional ao novo capitalismo e como instrumento de gestão da crise. Mas também pode apoiar um projeto humanista de transformação do mundo social, como instrumento de mudança cultural, emancipação e educação da crise. O autor estuda a obra e o pensamento de Ettore Gelpi, estabelecendo algumas relações com as contribuições de Paulo Freire e Ivan Illich, a fim de compreender as capacidades críticas e as possibilidades de transformação criativa abertas por políticas e práticas de educação ao longo da vida, evitando o domínio de formas burocráticas de controlo e a limitação da educação a práticas instrumentais de formação de recursos humanos.

The ambiguities of the concept of lifelong education are analyzed in pedagogic and cultural terms as well as in political terms. Lifelong education may be oriented toward the integration and subordination of individuals in the social order, in search of functional adjustment to the new capitalism and as an instrument for managing the crisis. But it can also support a humanistic project of transformation of the social world as an instrument for cultural change, emancipation and education of the crisis. The author studies the work and thinking of Ettore Gelpi establishing some relations with the contributions of Paulo Freire and Ivan Illich in order to understand the critical capacities and possibilities of creative transformation opened by lifelong education policies and practices, avoiding the domination of bureaucratic forms of control and the limitation of education to an instrumental practice of human resources training.
