Validadas as simulações, a solução projetada é
The constant technological evolution of the batteries resulted in increased capacity and energy density of the same. However, most of these require special care for proper functioning, namely a system that does the energy management. In this context appear the Battery Management System. A Battery Management System, identified in the literature as BMS, should guarantee the optimal operating conditions for the batteries in order to extend their useful life time, as well as optimize their charging and discharging processes. For such, this system includes a number of functions, such as monitoring of the parameters, charging and discharging control, battery charge equalization, security measures, among others. This M.Sc. dissertation presents the development of a BMS for electric mobility applications, as well as all the steps adjacent to this project. Firstly, it is studied the batteries technology available in the market and made a comparison of their characteristics, as well as the existing models to describe their behaviour. After that, the concepts related with the BMSs are presented, as well as their different structures, functions and components, comparing different solutions and focusing in the different techniques used for the battery charge equalization. Afterwards, using the computer simulation tool PSIM, simulations of the system interacting with the battery model were developed, in order to predict their behaviour and validate their correct operation. After validating the simulation results, the solutions were projected and implemented, both in their hardware and software parts, being tested individually, to guarantee the correct operation of each part, and finally it were performed the tests of the complete system, working as a whole. Lastly, are presented the experimental results obtained and the conclusions resulting from this work. |
