Impacto de variáveis meteorológicas nos padrões de consumo de água no noroeste de Portugal

Abstract

Na conjuntura atual, é da maior importância a definição de planos estratégicos no respeitante aos sistemas de abastecimento de água, garantindo a regularização na distribuição da mesma e uma melhor gestão dos recursos hídricos. A projeção dos consumos de água é um grande fator de ponderação na atividade das entidades responsáveis, permitindo uma gestão da água integrada e flexível a ocorrências naturais ou operacionais. A variação meteorológica surge como um dos fatores de maior influência no comportamento dos consumos de água. A relação entre ambos os parâmetros permite tirar ilações sobre o impacto causado pela variação da temperatura, da humidade relativa do ar e da precipitação sobre os volumes de água consumidos em dada região. O presente estudo tem em vista a concretização de modelos de projeção de consumos de água com base em variáveis meteorológicas. A amostra estatística assenta em dados cronológicos de volumes de água facultados pela concessionária Águas do Noroeste e em registos meteorológicos referentes à temperatura, humidade relativa do ar e precipitação. No decorrer da investigação foi realizada uma análise estatística individual das variáveis envolvidas e do grau de relacionamento das mesmas entre si. A sua interpretação permitiu estabelecer o contraste entre os diversos municípios do noroeste. O método de projeção adotado foi a regressão linear múltipla, o que proporcionou uma análise comparativa final com o estudo de Costa (2012), aplicado à região do Algarve. A comparação entre os comportamentos de consumos de água, as variações meteorológicas e os modelos de projeção concretizados para ambas as regiões possibilitou um conjunto de conclusões, nomeadamente, sobre a evolução dos consumos per capita e a influência das variáveis meteorológicas nos consumos de água no norte e no sul de Portugal.

At the present juncture it's of the utmost importance to define strategic plans regarding water supply systems, to ensure the regularization of water distribution and a better management of water resources. The projection of water consumption has a strong weighting in the activity of the responsible entities, allowing an integrated management of water and flexible to occurrences of natural or operational water. The weather variation emerges as one of the factors with the greatest influence on the behavior of water consumption. The relation between both parameters allows the drawing of conclusions on the impact caused by the variation of temperature, relative humidity and rainfall on the volumes of water consumed in a given region. This study aims at the realization of projection models for water consumption based on meteorological variables. The statistical sample is based on chronological data of volumes of water, provided by the dealership Águas do Noroeste and in meteorological records of temperature, relative humidity and rainfall. During the investigation, an individual statistical analysis of the variables involved and the degree of relationship between them was made. Its interpretation allowed to establish the contrast between the different regions of the Northwest. The projection method used was multiple linear regression, which provided a final comparative analysis with the study of Costa (2012), applied to region of the Algarve. The comparison between the behaviors of water consumption, weather variations and the projection models implemented for both regions allowed a number of conclusions, particularly on the evolution of water consumption per capita and the influence of meteorological variables on water consumption in the northern and southern Portugal.
