Tamanho grande, de Jorge Colombo : uma visão "espantada" do país de acolhimento

Abstract

Neste ensaio, procede-se à análise da pequena novela Tamanho Grande, texto especialmente vocacionado para leitores medianos/autonómos, a partir da dilucidação dos seus mais relevantes eixos ideotemáticos: emigração, adaptação a um novo país, diferenças culturais, alteridade, família, entre outros. O olhar português acerca da cultura americana, recriado por Jorge Colombo, dá conta de traços manifestamente singulares. Aspectos de linguagem e estilo são, igualmente, revistos.

This essay aims at analyzing the short novel Tamanho Grande, text which is specifically suitable for independent readers, from the elucidation of its most relevant ideological and thematic areas: migration, adaptation to a new country, cultural differences, otherness, family, among others. The Portuguese look about American culture, recreated by Jorge Colombo, manifestly reveals its singular traits. Aspects of language and style are also reviewed.
