Naked on Stage – The performance of Sarah Kane and Mark Ravenhill in Portugal, aims to analyze the plays Blasted and Cleansed, from Sarah Kane and Shopping and Fucking and Some Explicit Polaroids, from Mark Ravenhill, from the perspective of the text itself and from the point of view of the performances staged in Portugal. This research will also focus on the cultural context in England, in which these plays were written, and in Portugal, in which they were performed. These plays were chosen because, in Kane's case, Blasted had a huge impact in England and because Cleansed was one of the plays that really fulfilled me as a spectator. As for Ravenhill’s work, the two plays were the ones that the Portuguese chose to present more often on stage. To conclude, this research aims to be the beginning of a dramaturgic research in the context of contemporary British dramaturgy, which despite being vital for researchers, actors and directors, are still left unexplored, in Portugal. |
