Ravers, trancers e clubbers: valores e comportamentos

Abstract

Valendo-me principalmente das técnicas de observação-participação e entrevista semi-estruturada, faço um estudo sobre o ambiente noturno, partindo das primeiras festas marcadas pelos movimentos de contracultura nos anos 1960, até às festas de música alternativa que inundam cidades de todo o mundo na atualidade. Será estudado o festival mais importante a nível mundial, Woodstock Music and Arts Fair, e o festival mais importante a nível nacional, Festival de Vilar de Mouros, como fundo de comparação para as alterações que têm vindo a acontecer no ambiente noturno. Procuro dar especial atenção à alteração dos comportamentos, atitudes e valores dos indivíduos frequentadores desse tipo de eventos e, para isso, será feita uma diferenciação entre grupos. Por um lado teremos os ravers, que mais do que nunca estarão cingidos ao grupo dos trancers, e por outro lado teremos os clubbers, os frequentadores mais assíduos da atual música alternativa em clubs, maioritariamente citadinos. A separação e diferenciação dos grupos será feita tendo em conta diversas teorias sociológicas, designadamente a partir dos contributos de Anthony Giddens sobre os estilos de vida e a identidade pessoal.

Using mainly participant observational techniques and semi-structured interviews, I present a study about the nightlife, starting from the first parties where the sense of counterculture in the '60s hung to the alternative music festivals that deluge cities throughout the world today. Will be studied the most important festival in the world, Woodstock Music and Arts Fair, and the most important national festival, Festival de Vilar de Mouros, as method of comparison for the changes that have been happening in the nocturnal atmosphere. I will focus in the change of behaviours, attitudes and values of individuals that frequently go to such events, being necessary to make a group distinction. On one hand we will have ravers, that more than ever are linked to the trancers group and secondly we will have the Clubbers, the most assiduous frequenters of the current alternative music in clubs, mostly city dwellers. The separation and differentiation of the groups will be made by taking into account different sociological theories.
