Remembrance and forgetfulness: Feminine memory as identity and death in the poetry written by the Brontës

Abstract

This paper analyses the issue of memory, in terms of both remembrance and forgetfulness, in the personal and fictional poetry of the three Brontë sisters. It articulates memorialization with issues of identity, gender and death in their work and in the context of English history and culture.
