A formulação do problema é
lucros e sujeita a restrições impostas pelas relações termodinâmicas.
investimento. A urgent need of a response to the scarcity of fossil fuels, the pollution caused by them and even for economical reasons, it was imperative the resort to new forms of energy production. Thus arrises cogeneration (combined heat and power production – CHP), presenting itself as the most eficient way of energy generation, due to its high global efficiency. Although there are alternatives such as the renewable energies (solar thermal and photovoltaic, eolic, hydric and ocean wave energy) they seem to be less efficient and present higher investment costs. The development and the application of CHP systems as well as renewable energies were supported by some political measures, tax breaks and financial incentives in Portugal, in order to reduce the pollutant gases emission and to increase the energy efficiency. CHP is able to respond effectively to the main aspects to consider in the installation of energy generation systems, such as: the type of fuel, the applicability and its profitability. In this thesis it is made the description, analysis and the optimization of a CHP system working under the regenerative Joule-Brayton thermodynamic cycle for gas turbines, which includes a internal pre-heater (IPH), commonly used in this kind of systems. The problem was formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem considering as the Objective Function the maximization of the annual worth subjected to the thermodynamic relationships. The numerical solution was obtained using the optimization method called Box method, implemented in MatLab environment. The analyses performed are focused on different aspects: the fluctuation of the value correspondent to the physical variables of the model; the development of new cost equations of the model components; and in the integration of the thermal demand of a building according to the Portuguese legislation. The objective was to adapt an existing model in order to study, adjust and validate the obtained results, through a thermo-economic perspective. According to the several tests it was verified that the improvements to the model allowed to obtain more “realistic” results, in terms of thermodynamic behavior, such as the lower values of the compression ratio and the exit turbine temperature. Despite of the changes introduced to the model, it was registered an acceptable adjustment of the components costs and their distribution in the total investment costs. |
