equipamento. The building sector is responsible for consuming about 40% of the final energy in Europe. However, more than 50% of this consumption can be reduced through energy efficiency measures, which may represent an annual reduction of 400 million tons of CO2 - almost all of the European Union commitment under the Kyoto Protocol. These measures may be passive and active, being the last ones that this work has a higher focus. Following the Kyoto Protocol, new regulations have been created in the European Union and in Portugal, such as the RSECE, the RCCTE and the SCE, imposing limits on the energy consumption of buildings and classifying them by energy classes. The much desired energy efficiency can be obtained by combining several factors and this work focuses on the estimate of the energy consumption of a single-family house, with the aim of identifying the most relevant sources of energy consumption and to implement these measures to reduce consumption, thereby leading to a reduction of greenhouse gases emissions, as well as a economic savings, always welcome in view of the current situation in Portugal. The case study was based on a house still in draft form, complying to the latest regulations and is also an objective of this work a comparison of its performance in different climatic zones of the Portuguese territory and the implication of these differences in the energy bill. With use of the calculation tool, it is possible to verify that the total cost of the equipments depends mostly from the price of energy sources. The impact of the forecast in prices of energy sources may in some cases exceed the 25% of total costs, thus proving its importance in the proper definition of the final cost of the equipment. |
