"O meu dicionário" em ambiente não formal de aprendizagem: pesquisar, colaborar e construír

Abstract

Pretende-se com esta investigação trabalhar com um dicionário digital online “My Own Dictionary”, produzido no âmbito do Project Europeu VISEUS, por apresentar características inovadoras na sua concepção e possibilidades de utilização. O estudo/investigação realizado desenvolveu-se com alunos do 3º e 4º anos de escolaridade, utilizando uma metodologia de investigação do tipo descritivo próxima do estudo de caso. Os resultados recolhidos basearam-se sobretudo na observação participante das actividades e das reacções dos alunos durante as sucessivas etapas do trabalho. Durante a investigação foi utilizada a versão traduzida para o Português, “O meu Dicionário” onde os alunos puderam efectivamente escolher as palavras a colocar no Dicionário; apresentar a sua definição, ilustrar o conceito através de imagens, desenhos, filmes, bem como outros “sites” indicados através de hiperligações; colocar a pronúncia das palavras; escrever outras palavras relacionadas; e ainda construir frases incluindo com rigor cada palavra definida. Deste modo foi possível desenvolver a colaboração entre os alunos, bem como fazê-los participantes na construção do seu próprio conhecimento. Neste contexto, a aprendizagem tornou-se muito motivadora e significativa. A utilização deste recurso permitiu não só desenvolver competências na área das novas literacias multimédia, como também no estudo da língua.

Through this research we pretend to present the digital dictionary “My own Dictionary”, which besides allowing students to learn more about language writing and understanding on their own, also gives them the possibility to develop skills in the field of new multimedia literacy’s. Our research although being descriptive, also adopted a case study approach with students from the third and the fourth grade. The results were based upon direct and participative observation of the students while they were working. The version used is a translation into Portuguese - “O Meu Dicionário”, where the students could actually perform their tasks introducing the words, defining them, introducing the sound with the right pronunciation, illustrating the meaning of the words with images, drawings, movies, introducing hyperlinks to other sites and definitions from other digital dictionaries, translation into other languages and building up correct sentences with every new word. In this context, motivation, collaborative work and meaningful learning were achieved more easily. This dictionary, not only allows students to develop competences in the field of new multimedia literacy’s, but also in the acquisition of other competences in language writing and comprehension.
